A researched, source-verified map of Netherlands's most recognized disability-inclusion employers, agencies, advocates, certifiers and platforms — 7 categories, each with sources.

🇳🇱 Who's Leading Disability Inclusion in Netherlands

This is one entry in InkludX's Inclusion Atlas — a country-by-country, segment-by-segment scan of the organizations across Europe genuinely recognized for their disability-inclusion employment work: an award won, a scaled program, or a policy fingerprint behind the claim, not just a mention of "inclusion" on a website. Netherlands is one of InkludX's 5 launch markets.

Inclusive employers

  • VolkerWessels Inclusief — Internal work-learning company of the Dutch construction/infrastructure group VolkerWessels. In January 2024 it met the requirements of PSO 30+, the highest PSO level, placing it among the 10% best-performing companies in the Netherlands on social entrepreneurship. Source.
  • Erasmus University Rotterdam — Dutch research university. Named the Netherlands' most inclusive employer (“de Bart” award) by Stichting Studeren & Werken op Maat (SWOM) in 2021. Source.
  • Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) — Dutch central government ministry. Won The Bart Award for most inclusive employer at SWOM's 10th-anniversary celebration in June 2022. Source.

Public agencies & welfare bodies

  • UWV — National social-security agency. Manages the doelgroepregister (target-group register): hiring someone from the register counts toward the banenafspraak, which set a goal of 125,000 extra jobs for people with a work disability by early 2026 (100,000 in business, 25,000 in government). Source.
  • Cedris — National association of werkontwikkelbedrijven (work-development companies). Its members across the country provide work and development for people with a distance to the labour market and work with employers to create opportunities. Source.

NGOs & advocacy orgs

  • Ieder(in) — Dutch umbrella network of disability and chronic-illness organisations. An association of 220 member organisations that together represent more than 2 million people; runs an advice point on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Source.
  • HandicapNL — Dutch disability charity working on employment, housing and leisure. Received the Zero Project Award 2025 in Vienna for its work on inclusive employment and accessible vocational education for young people with intellectual disabilities. Source.

Certification & standards bodies

  • PSO Nederland — Certification (Prestatieladder Socialer Ondernemen) developed by TNO that measures how socially inclusive an employer is. Its levels run up to PSO 30+, and it is aimed at contracting authorities, buyers and investors as well as employers. Source.
  • SER Diversiteit in Bedrijf — Charter Diversiteit — National diversity charter. More than 500 employers have signed the Charter since its 2015 launch. Source.

Social enterprises & placement providers

  • auticon Nederland (formerly Specialisterren) — IT consultancy employing autistic consultants, registered as a social enterprise. In 2023 auticon and Unicus (together with Specialisterren) agreed to trade under one name; auticon says 81% of its 600 employees across 15 countries are on the autism spectrum. Source.
  • Emma at Work — Helps young people aged 15–39 with a chronic physical condition into work. Reports that 4,700 young professionals have used its support and 804 people currently work via Emma at Work. Source.
  • Onbeperkt aan de Slag — Matching organisation run entirely by people with a work disability. Says more than 8,000 people have found a job through it and its community numbers over 11,000 jobseekers; in 2025 it worked with the Province of South Holland on an AI-driven matching platform, Inclusify. Source.

Awards, media & recognition programs

  • The Bart Award / Rick Brink Award (Stichting SWOM) — Awards for the Netherlands' most inclusive employer and for individual inclusion champions. The 2025 Rick Brink Award went to Arthur, whose department now employs 40 people with support needs and who secured fair grading and pay for colleagues with a work disability. Source.
  • Zero Project Conference/Award — Annual international conference and award on disability inclusion, held in Vienna. HandicapNL's 2025 award gave the Dutch approach international visibility. Source.
  • De Normaalste Zaak — Employer network for inclusive employership. A growing network of more than 750 companies and organisations working on an inclusive labour market. Source.

HR-tech & inclusive-hiring platforms

  • Onbeperkt aan de Slag — Jobseeker–employer matching platform for people with work disabilities. Organises digital and physical meet-ups connecting employers with jobseekers who have work disabilities, plus social-impact consultancy for companies. Source.
  • Emma at Work — GAP200 network — Coaching, training and job support for young people with a chronic physical condition. Runs GAP200, a network of employers working together to close the gap for young talent with a chronic condition. Source.

This segment is thinner in the Netherlands — most tech activity is embedded inside placement NGOs rather than standalone SaaS vendors.

Sourced and independently re-verified. Every entry above was gathered via web research and then checked against its cited source in a separate verification pass; entries that didn't hold up were corrected or removed. Sourcing can still go stale — award years, figures, and program status may change.
